Karst Peak Capital

Karst Peak Capital is a public equities-focused investment management firm that launched in 2012 with backing from Tiger Management. Karst Peak’s founder had previously run the Asia office for Tiger Management. Karst Peak employs a “private equity approach to the public markets” to construct a concentrated portfolio of high-conviction, long-term holdings. The firm focuses on investments in the consumer, healthcare, and technology sectors and primarily invests in small- and mid-cap companies, seeking to identify promising businesses before they are well known to the broader market. Karst Peak has generated a strong track record in Australasia over the years, with a particular emphasis on global businesses emanating from Australia and New Zealand. Karst Peak’s team is split across Hong Kong and Sydney.

Potentum Partners

Potentum Partners was founded in January 2019 by senior members of the team responsible for building and managing Future Fund’s A$28bn private equity program for over 10 years. Future Fund’s private equity program outperformed both financially and reputationally, based on: • strong manager selection; • a relationship-led model that enabled a focused portfolio at scale; and • significant co-investment. We see institutional investors and family offices operating under significant internal constraints that prevent them from doing the same. Potentum Partners is our solution to delivering the benefits of a sophisticated internal team operating a relationship – led model on a highly aligned but outsourced basis. We intend to manage 6-7 highly bespoke separate accounts for our clients. We believe that one of those accounts should be made available to family offices and smaller institutions to democratise access to a Future Fund style private equity program.

Ruffer LLP

Ruffer LLP is a multi-asset absolute return manager and has managed clients’ assets according to this philosophy since the firm started in 1994.

It is the only mandate the firm manages and assets under management stand at U$28billion (Dec 2020). Since 1994, Ruffer has developed a 25 year track record of delivering consistent positive returns (compound growth of 9.0% pa, net of fees) even in bear markets. Ruffer have generated positive returns through all three of the bear markets it has operated through, the dot-come bust, the Global Financial Crisis and the Corona-crisis.

In a market increasingly crowded with absolute/target return funds, Ruffer continues to define its approach through two investment aims:

1. Not to lose money in any twelve month rolling period.
2. To achieve a consistent return significantly greater than cash.

To do this, Ruffer conduct its own independent research, actively manage investments and operate freely, without reference to relative returns or market benchmarks.
